After reading the interview of George Hartman, I found some of the questions and answers very interesting. The 75 year old man has been in the black smith business for 40 years. “We bought a little house about 16 feet long and 8 foot wide. There was three of us in the family”. George Hartman lived a not so luxurious life, he didn't even have shoes. He moved on the Oregon Trail when he was a young lad. He never saw Native Americans before, but the first time he did, he was frightened. George lived through the Great Depression when he decided to become a painter in 1875.
Even though George Hartman was a hard working man, and worked his whole life, when the Depression struck, he lost just about everything. He turned his life around after getting two new jobs. He said he was even happy again. Even though he still had barely any food, and no cloths, it's amazing to see how greatful someoe could still be in a time like George went through.

This reminds me of what George Hartman's house would look like when he was living on the Oregon Trail.
